CorSport: ‘Everything under control’ – the latest on Maignan and Theo’s renewals

Adding players is a vital part of this summer’s mercato, but AC Milan must also look to retain their stars, and it has certainly not been an easy few months in that regard.

Towards the end of last season, doubts were in place about how Milan were going to tackle the issues of contracts, given Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan both have contracts that expire in the summer of 2026.

Of course, there is no desperation from the Rossoneri yet, because they still have another summer of ‘safety’ so to speak, but this summer is when they are at their highest mercato price, and if there are no positive signs, it would be better to cash in than risk losing money next summer.

Until now, there has been no major movement, but there are still no worries from Milan, and according to Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), ‘everything is under control‘.

Elite players will always be courted, and this is very much the case for Theo and Maignan, who both are recipients of major interest. However, there is no desire for either to depart, so figures must be spoken about that will keep them at the club.

Both players are seeking salaries in the region of €7-8 million, which the Diavolo would be ‘willing’ to provide, but things are at a standstill.

The details are clear. Interest is there, and it will only grow as their contracts approach their expiry. However, a know that once seemed difficult seems ‘solvable’ for Maignan, and Theo has a desire to ‘bind with the Rossoneri colours for a long time’.
