CorSport: ‘Final assault’ ready – Milan hope to land €35m duo this week

We are now a few days into the final month of the summer transfer window, and AC Milan are hoping this week will provide accelerations on two fronts.

The idea of the management will be to have as many of the pieces in place by 20:45 on Saturday 17 August, when Milan will begin their league campaign at San Siro against Torino.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) report this morning that we are in the midst of a ‘decisive week’ for two signings that the Rossoneri have long sought: full-back Emerson Royal and midfielder Youssouf Fofana. They also state that the ‘final assault’ is being readied.

The Tottenham man is currently the closest to joining: the two clubs are very close to an agreement with Milan, who will put on the table around €15m as a fixed fee, to which around €2m in bonuses will be added. It is no coincidence that Spurs are already looking for a replacement.

For Fofana, on the other hand, the Milan directors must exercise maximum patience. They are betting strongly on the Frenchman’s will and also the fact that his contract is expiring in less than 11 months.

As time passes, Geoffrey Moncado and co. know that the Ligue 1 club will think more and more about accepting their offer of just less than €20m, in order to at least raise some funds.
