CorSport: Fonseca wants Abraham ASAP – the two counterparts Roma want

By Oliver Fisher -

After Alvaro Morata, Paulo Fonseca has expressly asked the AC Milan management to try and get Tammy Abraham from Roma from his management, and they are working on the deal.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, there are all the conditions in place to conclude the deal: the player wants the move and has an agreement in principle over terms, while Roma are keen to sell after signing Artem Dovbyk.

However, the distance between Milan and the Giallorossi is still quite large, but Fonseca still hopes to have Abraham available as soon as possible, a scenario that could come true thanks to Alexis Saelemaekers and Noah Okafor.

Considering Roma’s request (€25-30m) and Milan’s intention to get the best deal possible, this deal could run aground, but the capital club are exploring the potential of getting a player in return with Okafor and Saelemaekers the main suspects.

The Belgian is liked because he would have the ideal characteristics for Daniele De Rossi’s game, while the Swiss would be ideal for his versatility, but it is precisely for these reasons that Fonseca would like to keep them, evaluating other players to include in the Abraham deal, such as Davide Calabria.

The paper goes on to add that there could well be competition to see off. After Gianluca Scamacca’s knee injury, Atalanta have also resumed their pursuit of Abraham who they have been persistently seeking already in the summer of 2021, before the former Chelsea player chose Roma.

  1. Not really fond of him since we’ll be doing Roma a favour and take a big chunk of deadwood from them while wasting our money.

By the way, what’s with that “Milan have healthy budget available” and “we have 80 to 100 millions on side for reinforcements”🤣👏

Here I’ll give you a new excuse to lean on – the problem is not the money but we need to trim down the squad before we buy🤣👏

    1. Fonseca with the right spirit, recruiting rejects and bargains. I guess his job interview with Moncada and Furlani was like that meme with the three Spider-mans pointing at each other haha

    2. That 80m euro budget including with CDK & salad sale 23m euro + 10m euro . Basically their budget only 50m euro without that 2 sales. Atalanta pay in feb 2025 for CDK while bologna not interesting to activate buy option salad that makes their calculation budget screwed

    3. Is basic Maths beyond you? That Milan were negotiating for Zirkzee (€40 million), Fofana (€15 million) and Emerson (€15 million) at the same time does indeed suggest that the budget was and is around €80 million.

      1. First of all that’s 70M€ in total.
Second: one of the reasons they abandoned Zirkzee was because they estimated him to be way too costly and that getting him even for 40M€ won’t allow us to reinforce other positions.
Also at the time we were negociating for Zirkzee we didn’t offer more than 12M€ for Emerson and I think we didn’t made the first bid to Monaco prior to having an agreement with Morata.
So suggesting that the initial budget was around 50-60M€ isn’t wrong.
So far we got Morata for 13M€+Pavlovic for 18M€ (31M€ in total) and we’re trying to get Fofana for 20M€+Emerson for 14M€ (that’s 34M€ in total). We wanted to sell Adli for around 14M€ and Pobega and try to get Samardzic for less than 15M€ (which kind of cancel each other). So all and all, unless we sell we don’t seem to be able to spend more than 60-70M€ this summer which is far from the 90-100M€ reported earlier this summer by some articles.

  2. Official, confirmed. Niclas Füllkrug joins West Ham on permanent deal from Borussia Dortmund for fee in excess of €27m.

Oh that’s why the Fullkrug news gone with the wind.

      1. I don’t agree with you often, but West Ham was taken to the cleaners in that deal. Lol next thing we know they will take Thiaw off us for 40 million lol

      2. What a piece of business by Dortmund. They got Guirassy with only 18 mil RC (his MV is currently 40 mil).

Wonder why we can’t sell our deadwoods to EPL or even to Saudi Arabia (while many other European teams doing that).

        1. They already try offload ballo & origi to EPL , but none of that club interesting to buy both of them. That two are really deadwood without good statistic in previous club

        2. Fulkrug wasn’t a deadwood..just wanted guaranteed gametime, I think. Still a superb piece of business by bVb

We sell our deadwood to Turkey for a couple of million

  3. Bad business. Noah and Alex have growth potential. I don’t see Abraham with the same potential. AC Milan should be careful.

  4. I really hope to see on full display the usual incompetence of our management to close deals with Tammy and Emerson. But most likely at least one of them will come at a ridiculously high price. SMH

  5. I honestly dont mind Abraham. He is injury prone but he is a good player. He never found his form at Roma but there is a reason why Fonseca is specifically asking for him. If he stays injury free he is 20 goal per season player at a good age. At 26 if we get him on the cheap, he does well for 2 years while Camarda is slowly integrated into first team. One of the EPL teams will bring him back to England for silly money. Worse case if it doesn’t work out he still has resale value.

    1. He’s crap under pressure and injury prone. Jovic is better and no, I don’t think one of the EPL teams will pay silly money for him.

  6. i dont hav eany problem with him but i dont want to put saelmakers or okafor in the exchange and we anyways have morata jovic and okafor that alll kan play strikers we dont need another st we need a dm and the same for emerson royal we can buy them later but right now we need a dm and samardic abraham and emerson royal has to wait

  7. ETH demanded Antony at Man United.

Not saying Fonseca is as blind as the Dutchman but we would be wise not to overspend even on a specific request.

  8. If this is not journalistic click bait (I don’t really believe in what is said unless it’s a club’s official position, directly stated by one of the club’s officials) then it’s a horrible deal. I would rather keep Saelemaekers and Okafor than have Abraham.
