Before this weekend’s Derby della Madonnina, the headlines are about Paulo Fonseca’s chances of survival, rather than anticipating a great game. A humiliating run-up to the derby for AC Milan fans.
Since his arrival, Fonseca has never had an attachment to the fans, and that ultimately stretches to the initial thoughts of the head coach before his appointment. When it was reported that the Portuguese coach was next in line, immediately there was backlash.
Since then, it has been a wave of less and more negativity, rather than positivity. In America, the questions were not as frequent with the side performing, but with the reservations of it being pre-season.
As the season started, things have gone from bad to worse for Fonseca, and with one win in five fixtures, he is ‘hanging on by a thread’. His football is not working, or the squad are not working with his football. Either way, he is facing the sack.
Questions have been asked about when/if it will arrive, and it is believed a decision could be made this weekend. However, the result may not matter. As Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) writes, his ‘fate is marked’, even with a positive result the scenario would not change.
Klopp -> Milan is back
Tuchel -> the 3 stooges are actually gonna do their job
Xavi -> Futuro hope?
Sarri -> pray he does better than at Lazio
Sergio Conseicao -> his 2nd big team…
bonus: Gasperini has contract until 2025…
I don’t think big time coaches like Klopp, Xavi or even Tuchel would be interested in Milan’s constant rebuild mode with no say on the market, a budget squad and an idiot bragging “I’m the boss” in their ears.
Exactly.
This management is searching for a yes man before a coach so don’t expect any coach with self respect.
Arretons de rêver de Klopp il ne viendra pas en plus il est en année sabbatique
Prions plutôt pour avoir Conceicao ou Sarri
Well, if the club is already intending to sack him after 5 games, then my fears have been confirmed that the club never had clear ideas in the first place. I was expecting some glimmer of hope with the managers standing by him.
No matter how good a coach is, once he doesn’t see the support from his employers, he’s going to get worked up and start making wrong decisions.
At least, it is better than being disillusioned, but it still casts a cloud of being unprofessional
Allow Fonseca work in peace, I mean what do you guys think? Perhaps you’re thinking everything will definitely be Smooth sailing after a successful pre season tournament? You must be joking. Remember he’s changing the teams style of play completely. This is no dream league soccer or football fantasy. I bet none of you would have prospered in such heavy pressure , not even the best coaches around.
PEP GUADIOLA despite spending over three times as Fonseca and getting better quality players still struggled in his for season at Manchester City. He could only secure 4th place during the final 3weeks of the season.
4 long years was required for KLOP to turn Liverpool into a genuine title contender with at least 3 finals lost from leading positions along the way.
TUCHEL struggled big time at Bayern despite having numerous quality players at his disposal.
The only saving grace for CARLO ANCELOTTI at Real Madrid was his UCL wins likewise ZIDAN.
All these great coaches would have been crap as well had there respective clubs not exercise patience and trust what they do.
Just give FONSECA time to implement his ideas and if there are no signs of improvements after 5-6 months, his sacking is justifiable not 5 matches into the season.
The problem is that Fonseca is known for being mediocre. This won’t change, regardless of how long you give him. In this case, hiring him was a big mistake, so the sooner the mistake is corrected, the better. He should never have been hired to start with, when much better coaches were available. It is not rocket science: hire a mediocre employee, expect mediocre results. If you can rapidly fire the loser and correct your mistake, do it.
