CorSport: Gazidis hoping to save €40m in salary payments as talks with squad continue

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are continuing the negotiations between players and the management regarding a salary cut during the COVID-19 emergency, a report claims.

According to il Corriere dello Sport on Friday (via MilanLive), the Rossoneri intends to follow in the footsteps of Juventus regarding salary cuts.

The Bianconeri’s proposal, above all for budgetary reasons, was to give up four months of wages to save €90million gross. In reality it would not be a true and total cut, since credits would still be guaranteed and spread in the following season.

Milan – using the same arrangement – would save about €40million from this outcome. The conversation goes on between CEO Ivan Gazidis and a group of players led by captain Alessio Romagnoli and there is confidence in the white smoke quickly.

However, there are some variables to consider in this negotiation, such as players who are on expired contracts such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic. For those players, individual negotiations are expected.
