CorSport: Hellas Verona register interest in Milan defender who is returning from loan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan defender Mattia Caldara is attracting interest from fellow Serie A side Hellas Verona who could soon make their move, a report claims.

Caldara will return to Milan this summer after an 18-month loan spell at Atalanta, who decided not to use their option to buy him which was set at €15m as per most sources. However, it doesn’t look like he will stick around for long.

The defender didn’t exactly impress all that much while at Atalanta and that resulted in little playing time. His valuation has subsequently dropped and the Rossoneri can’t expect to get the initial €15m from him now, but could still make a sum from his sale.

According to this morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), Caldara has admirers in Serie A and he is under observation of the new Hellas Verona manager Eusebio Di Francesco. He is a profile appreciated by Di Francesco but it has not yet resulted in real negotiations, though the market is long and there could be time to launch a definitive assault.
