CorSport: ‘The hottest phase’ – what Milan expect from the Emerson negotiations

AC Milan are looking to complete their third signing of the summer mercato this week, and it is believed to be a move for Emerson Royal. 

Signing a new right-back has been an on-and-off operation for Milan this summer. In the early stages of 2024, reports were suggesting that there was a rising interest in signing a deputy for Davide Calabria, and as the window approached, these rumours only grew.

However, it seemed like a deal would not happen at one point after talks between Tottenham Hotspur and the Rossoneri died because of the distance between the two parties in terms of price. Following these reports, there were also suggestions that Pierre Kalulu was facing a trial at right-back, and these were supposedly going very positively.

Nevertheless, it seems that the operation has been revived, and the prospect of Emerson joining the club is highly likely at this point, with Corriere dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan) describing the situation as being in the ‘hottest phase’ the negotiations have been in until now, and the expectation is that he will join this week.

According to the report, Spurs must convince themselves to accept the latest offer from Milan – which totals around €15 million plus bonuses, a figure that the Rossoneri see as very reasonable.
