CorSport: Increased demands and Sporting case – Milan studying Leao renewal approach

By Oliver Fisher -

One of the major issues that AC Milan will have to face this summer is the situation surrounding Rafael Leao and his renewal amid interest from abroad.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), negotiations and reflections on Leao are ongoing among the Milan management and they are studying an extension that would secure the Portuguese talent at least until 2027.

There is a desire to reach an agreement but there is no huge urgency because Milan feel that the €150m release clause in Leao’s current contract is ample protections. Having been named the MVP in Serie A after Milan’s Scudetto win, the former Lille man now wants more than the €4.5m net per season put on the table by Maldini and Massara.

Linked to this situation is the compensation that Leao will have to pay to Sporting CP and while Milan have absolutely nothing to do with the legal case in question, they could decide to help the player pay the fine.

  1. Help him and he’ll do you one better, as he might renew the contract and agree to put 250m release clause. He’s exciting to watch next season, and it will be much better if he helps portugal winning the nations league.

    1. You think he and his agent will accept a 250M clause? I think he’s gonna leave, or now or next summer for free

      1. Why? If he doesn’t sign a new contract he is sold next summer, that is how clubs should work. Sign or leave. If you stay you can play with Primavera.
