CorSport: Juventus enter the frame for Saelemaekers with Motta seeking a reunion

Juventus are contemplating a move for AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers this summer with the Belgian impressing Thiago Motta last season.

As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), the Bianconeri could take Saelemaekers off of Milan’s hands thanks to their new coach, Motta.

The Italian was the Bologna coach last season where Saelemaekers was on loan. Despite a good season, the change of coach meant that Bologna did not make the deal for the Belgian permanent.

Motta liked him, though, and he could now try to bring him to Juventus on a permanent deal. Saelemaekers is not part of Milan’s plans this season under Paulo Fonseca and they are keen to sell him.

Milan only want €11-12m for Saelemaekers this summer which Juventus could certainly afford. That being said, they are currently unwilling to offer more than €7-8m for the right winger.

If Juventus do reach a deal with Milan, it will prove that they are giving Motta some serious power over the transfers. There was no previous suggestion that Juventus had an interest in Saelemaekers, it is presumably coming directly from Motta who thinks he can be a good squad player for his first season in charge.

    1. The only way he fits is if Leao takes the Saudi offer (if one truly exists). Then Puli & Fede could swap flanks at will.

  1. The problem with Milan since last couple of years is that they show bluntly if they wanna offload their players. By the end, any club which is interested to the player can ask for low price, much lower than what Milan could get.
I am not saying Saelemaekers is worth 50 mil or so, but if only Milan were not “too honest” acting that they don’t want the player, I am sure Milan could had been able to sell him for maybe 15-20 millions. Because Saelemaekers has just had a good season. Maybe not good enough for most of online Milan’s fans’ standard, but still, come on, his performance was more than decent last season.
Just see the CdK’s case. Again, if he weren’t Milan player, and the club that owned him didn’t act like how Milan did, I believe he could be sold for 30 million. He got 2 digits goals and helped Atalanta won EL. If someone like him were Milan’s target, I believe the club will ask for 40 mil.
I am not saying Football Manager style of talk. But just see how other clubs deal with “unwanted player”. Even Chelsea sold RLC, who was definitely someone they were happy to offload, for 20 million.

    1. Yeah, but RLC is worth 20M, Salad is not worth 15M. 10M is about right for him, and that’s exactly splitting the difference between the the rumored ask and the rumored offer in this article. So, it seems like he will be fairly valued. But I hear what you’re saying. Sometimes it’s just obvious even if the club isn’t trying to make it obvious. Look at Origi for example. Anybody can tell we’d offload him in a heartbeat. Also, as fans our perception is warped by reading new about Milan every day. We get bombarded by articles talking about how this or that player is not useful and we need to offload them. I doubt directors of football and scouts of other teams spend their time perusing SM to see which Milan players they can get at a discount.

  2. See, if we’d get Motta he would probably bench Leao or worst even sell him and have Saelemakeres as our starter.

    Dodged a bullet there.
