CorSport: Kessie’s recovery time becomes clearer – when the midfielder should return

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan were hoping to be able to go into the new season with Franck Kessie anchoring the midfield, but his injury has rued out that possibility.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes how after stretching his left thigh muscle, Kessie is undergoing specific therapies and exercises to return after the international break at full fitness, ready to contribute to the team.

The Ivorian would like to try and trim the recovery time given, but the schedule indicates the match against Lazio on 13 September as a possible return date. It gives the 24-year-old exactly one month to recover without any real rush, because the last thing that Milan need is any kind of relapse or complication.

In Monday’s season opening game against Sampdoria at the Marassi, it is therefore expected that Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali will form the double pivot in the Ivorian’s absence.
