CorSport: The latest on two Milan outcasts as summer transfers beckon

By Isak Möller -

While the main focus in the media has been on signings, AC Milan are also working on a few departures to make space for the reinforcements. Samu Castillejo and Matteo Gabbia are expected to leave, a report claims.

The two, and especially the Spaniard, didn’t get a lot of playing time this past season and it’s clear that Milan have other players for their respective position. Both are thus expected to leave this summer, as per Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews).

Gabbia has attracted the interest of Sampdoria and he’s likely to leave on a loan, perhaps with a buy-out clause. Marco Giampaolo’s side took Andrea Conti off Milan’s hands in January and the relations are thus positive.

As for Castillejo, a return to La Liga is almost certain and his departure will be permanent, although a loan formula shouldn’t be excluded to facilitate the exit. At the age of 27, Milan can expect to get around €8-10m for him and that’s a nice little bonus.

  1. I wouldn’t sell him without a buy back clause. He looked good when he played, he is good with the ball and is homegrown. You don’t have another CD like that and he might be a starter after 2 seasons playing 1st choice somewhere else.

  2. Samu Castillejo isn’t leaving Milan before his contract expires.
They should stop reporting news about his exit because it’s not happening prior to 2023

  3. Castilejo is still good I wish they reduces his salary and renew his contract, last season against Verona he was awesome
