CorSport: Milan looking for a new left-back with Italian duo top of the list

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan could sell Fode Ballo-Toure this summer and that is why they are evaluating potential replacements, according to a report.

According to the Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara have been looking for a reliable back-up left-back since they became directors, with Ballo-Tourè having not convinced since his arrival in the summer of 2021.

The Senegal international could be sold during the upcoming summer mercato and that is why the Rossoneri are already hunting for potential replacements who would come in and be a more natural deputy to Theo.

The ideal for the management is to sign a young Italian player for the left-back role given the need to fill the UEFA squad list with homegrown players.

That is why Fabiano Parisi from Empoli and Pasquale Mazzocchi from Salernitana are on the list of potential targets, with the former having even named Theo as his role model in an interview last month.

  1. Mazzocchi would be my pick of the two but isn’t he a right back?

I’ve said it many times about Parisi (22 yo), he is a very suspect player. If he ends up the equal of Calabria I would be surprised.

I quite like Valeri (23 yo) at Cremonese, too. He’d be about half the price of Parisi because he doesn’t have the reputation but he is a better player.
