CorSport: Losing ground – Milan could lose battle for Plan A and B strikers

By Ben Dixon -

Ahead of the window, AC Milan have been focused on Joshua Zirkzee, but they have also taken an interest in other strikers, even before the commission issues arose. Today, they have been given another blow regarding their plan B, a report has stated.

Recruiting a striker is difficult, especially in a market as inflated as today’s, which is further worsened by the fact that many of Europe’s elite clubs have the same desire – buying a new striker.

For months, Milan have led the race for Zirkzee, but they have kept their options open in case the new manager preferred a different profile, or in case the deal was not right, for whatever reason that may be.

Earlier today, it was reported that Manchester United are ready to contest the Rossoneri and are preparing to trigger his release clause, given the issues that the club are having regarding Kia Joorabchian’s commission, other avenues could be explored.

The preferred other avenue is believed to be bringing Artem Dovbyk to the club. However, Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) have reported that this may be a challenge in itself, given Milan have also lost ground in the running for the Ukrainian striker, largely due to them pursuing Zirkzee so heavily.

There are two clubs ahead of Milan now in the race for Dovbyk, and those are Atletico Madrid – who may lose a striker themselves this summer – and Napoli – who are preparing for life without Victor Osimhen.

  1. I said it already multiple times on this site, and I’ll say it again- we will AGAIN miss out on all our targets and get 2 strikers- one 30+yo and one youngster. Great business

    1. It seems that this management doesn’t have prime targets, even at a paramount position like striker. They wait after the first wave, when all top clubs have finished their market, and they go after the leftovers like last summer.

  2. Zirkzee’s a great player…and Man U can have him. If it means taking on his agent as a charity project, as Ibra says. As for Dovbyk, if Corriere dello Sport says we’re about to miss out on him then I guess it must be true!

      1. Bro not long ago you were saying that media were lying about Théo’s talks with other clubs and a few days ago he explicitly said in front of the media that he doesn’t know if he will be a Milan player next season.

      2. Yep – they/we literally have on clue what’s going on behind the scenes. It’s just all hot air until something actually happens, which could be out the blue like the Chuk and Okafor deals last summer. Or Ibra and Robinho back in the day with Galliani.

      3. No they employ Acm management that thinks of 💩
Be resigned to finishing next season behind in all contests with Pork and cheese coach

  3. Everyone knew about Zirkzee’s agent’s commission already. Why would management invest all this time knowing he wouldn’t budge? Our management’s inexperience is showing and it’s frustrating. We need to stop being cheap and just pull the trigger on who we want. Stop with this discount bs.

    1. If you guys are also put to test in Milan’s management, let’s say to the truth, everyone of you making nonsense and irrelevant comments will do worst than expected, so instead of blames, why don’t you just give a reasonable comment, and let the sleeping dog sleep confidently.

  4. I’m sure they’ll get Lukaku on a cut price deal on the last day of the mercato. They always have a plan unbeknownst to us. Whatever happen they will pull a rabbit out of their arses

  5. very team pays commisons to agents and have been paying them for many years. its only Milan that seem to want to be “ethical” when it comes to this. a greedy hedge fund complaining about ethics…

its ok. there are plenty of no name strikers who are cheap and wont ask for allot of commission who would fit perfectly with our no name coach.

we are milan fans we dont complain about the house being on fire until its turned into ashes. even though the fire can be seen from a mile away.

  6. Hey, at least one of our striker just scored in Euro. Jovic with another clutch super sub appearance.

The deputy striker is secured, just need to get that top striker transfer…

  7. This update is so funny and truly confirmed my points about our transfer credibility which is woeful every transfer.
Milan has no money and they’re very stingy with spending for good quality players yet they want to beat inter and Juventus to the scudetho? Honestly Milan is very funny.
Watch it the next strategy is to be making noise about building a new stadium all just to pretend.

  8. AC.Milan owner doesn’t want to spend a lot on this transfer window, because he hasn’t paid the ex owner full price.Besides we don’t have good and better scouting, they’re lazy and lacking of confidence as well. See forget about Zirkzee’s deal and buy Dovbyk with Demirovic or icardi. Cause we already have Okafor and Luka Jović.. simply and we’re good to go.

  9. Crying to sign Dovbik for month now. What a pure stupidity. I think they are just playing us. Yes us, not the market. They will pretend they want to sign this and that. They dont! Period. How long it took Inter to sign our target last summer? 48 hours? You get my point. Fly over, sign Dovbik and we are good for years to come.

  10. Don’t you guys think? How will Milan buy Lukaku when he and Ibrahimovic who’s in the management presently had misunderstanding, when they were both players in opposing and rival clubs, then do you think they’ll still agree with each other, as Ibra is in the management, you guys should think before you talk.
