CorSport: Management vs. fans – differences exist for ideal next Milan manager

With AC Milan considering parting ways with Paulo Fonseca, a decision must be made about who a potential replacement may be. However, there seems to be a difference in the ideal candidates from the management’s and the fans’ perspectives.

It is fair to say that in the summer, Fonseca was not a favoured candidate, and now, his future at the club looks short. He has failed to change perceptions of him and his football, and now Milan are in a difficult place.

The Rossoneri have only won once in their opening five competitive, the other four games have been immensely disappointing, and they have deserved to be beaten in each of them, even if they salvaged a draw in two games.

If a replacement is to arrive, it must be a coach that the fans and the management aligns with, and at present, it seems there is a difference in the favoured successors.

As Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) reports, the management would prefer to appoint Edin Terzic or Thomas Tuchel, and the latter has offered his willingness to negotiate to the club. Alternatively, the fans would prefer a domestic option, seeking Maurizio Sarri or Massimiliano Allegri as the next head coach – this viewpoint could also be held by Gerry Cardinale.

    1. Tuchel will disturb the dressing room, not an ideal option for long term.

Fonseca is a bad option but with this team finishing 4th will be a miracle for any coach.

      Average CBs
      Poor RBs
      No holding Midfielders
      No playmakers
      No domestic players

      1. Tuchel needs to disturb their sleep in the dressing room.
I am all for Tuchel but he will need more than just the rest of the season no matter how the results are.
He is a CL winner and have a huge experience with world class teams and players.

He can show Leao what is required to be more than average.

    2. Abraham and Pulisic both have bad blood with Tuchel.
Their careers at Chelsea pretty much stalled under Tuchel, despite having been successful previously

  1. Redbird have ripped the soul out of this great club yet many here are still supporting these bankers! First, they dismantled the Scudetto winning team, got rid of the one person that won is the first Scudetto after the benter era, they brought in mediocre players and then a mediocre coach not to mention a clown (Ibra) they have an accountant who has no clue on running a football club yet no sporting director and Ibra who’s loyalty is to redbird not Milan since he works for them.
To all you who love redbird I hope you enjoy a few more years in the wilderness.

  2. I am sure all the fans would be ecstatic with someone like Tuchel! It would be understandable if he doesn’t want to touch this mess with a 10 foot pole though…

    1. No we won’t be. Tuchel is a disaster and he made a mess of very good Bayern Munich team. He was lucky Terzic is a soft coach who couldn’t even draw or win the last game of season which is why Dortmund loss the Bundesliga title to Bayern Munich who didn’t deserve to win it.

Both of these coaches would be the wrong answer.

Only Allegri can fix this defense problem and lack of confidence and motivation from our players.

Sarri is soft as a baby’s ass and his team concedes too many goals. So a big no to Sarri as well.

      1. defense is never a problem for this squad, it is the midfielders who were clueless and don’t know how to distribute the ball to the front and fight in the middle.

  3. The sad truth is, there isn’t a name universally appreciated because most clubs were proactive in due time to snatch the likes of Motta, the likes of Conte. Even Gilardino would have been a good option.

Young progressive minds (outside of Conte of course). I don’t even know who to bring it at this point to stabilize the team…

    Klopp?

    1. YES, maybe Klopp is what we need… since the caliber of players are suitable for 433 formation and transit the team to play a more attacking aggressive and compact football with his philosophy. (Mass attack, Mass Defense) style of play.

We can see the biggest player under him MO’Salah track back to defense in lose of possession. If Leao fails to do that Klop can easily replace him with an unknown quality player just as he did when Sane left he bring in Diaz

  4. Naglesman was doing pretty well at Bayern when he was dumped for Tuchel. Tuchel who promptly managed to win Bundesliga to the exclusion of all the other opportunities there.

Tuchel who didn’t win a trophy last season. Dumped from the Pokal by a B2 team.

Tuchel who regularly tosses the players under the bus then demands new expensive players. Then moans when he doesn’t get them.

Is that the Tuchel “all the fans want”? Sorry but not this one.

We have a young team who can play beautiful football. Xavi, Potter & Terzic seem to know how to build a system to fit the talent.

Xavi has a clear track record of giving youth a chance then developing them.

This fan wants a coach that fits our current reality, not some ideal.

    Forza (the actual) Milan.

  5. Out of the coaches we’re linked with it’s sarri for me.

First off we need a coach who has serie a experience and can speak Italian.

Hiring tuchel or teezic now wouldn’t change us anytime soon they have 0 experience in this league.

Don’t care what anyone says but sarri anywhere he’s been hasn’t been given players that suit his style and he’s always over achieved. How did that Lazio team finish second? Scudetto with juve europa with Chelsea. He has players in milan suited to his style.

Allegri, although I never want him because he’s a lunatic and plays the most boring football we need someone to steady the ship and he’s capable of doing that although I wouldn’t want him long term.

    Absolute NO to moyes.

Any foreign coach with no serie a experience with 5 games into the season isn’t going to suddenly change us so if we are to fire fonseca it’s sarri for me. Don’t know why we hired fonseca in the first place and although he’s performed horribly, I feel like the players truly never got behind him.

    1. You have said some interesting things but i disagreed with :”And can speak Italian”.

Milan is playing known italian first 11 and have less than 6 italian players in the whole 23-25 squad. who will the coach speak italian to?

  6. Garry bring back Carlo for us.. He has won everything in the world of football except world cup and that is bcuz he hasn’t coached a national team.

just persuade him to come and help rebuild the team for 2 season pending a long term coach suitable for the project will be available. or better go all in for KLOPP

Short time project Allegri or convince Pioli to come back and finish his contract if by any chance possible.

  7. if we lose derby so new manager will come. very possible.
    .
for me the best options are Sarri and Tuchel. both coaches prefer offensive, attractive and effective style of football. this is what exactly all supporters expect…

  8. We concede too many goals. Who can fix that, no matter that he is boring etc, etc, Allegri is the one who can fix that.
Look at Inter last night against city, boring but tactically brilliant and didn’t concede against arguably the best team on the planet, that’s what we need and Allegri can give us that solidity. We are constantly being embarrassed by all sorts of teams, Allegri for all his faults will stop that, plus he always wins trophies.

  9. A dream would be Zidane. (Although him not speaking much English might be a problem with the current squad).

    Klopp would be amazing.

To fix the defense and the diva attitude, unfortunately Allegri might be the best choice.

To risk short term losses for better play long term, Sarri.

To risk mutiny but at least have a good coach, Tuchel for sure.

I’m not familiar with Terzic’s character so I’ll trust those who know better.

  10. No Allegri, he lost his touch. Xavi no thank you. He likes to complain too much and blame officials.
Conceição can fix the dress room attitude and implement discipline which is needed.
If we’re going after Sarri do like Roma, until the end of the Summer. Someone mentioned Gillardino in the comments, it’ll be am interesting one, I’m impressed with his work. In a couple more seasons, he’ll be like Motta

  11. The one who cardinale and management will choose is cheap coach. It is terzic or tudor or sarri or conceicao or moyes or ddr. Cheap is the key decision.

  12. Conceciao or tuchel should be good options.

Not sure how English coaches play in Italy,it’s not easy. This is the reason, Italian go through in the championships than English teams.

Xavi is cry baby, so no to him.

Where is recommendations from the Moncada the great scout 😀😀😀 , he should bring a french coach recommendation?

  13. Meh I see so much comments here and laugh 😂😂😂 first of sarri is a no go area, allegri 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 was lucky to win the league for Milan because of the player’s we had back then, same thing at Juventus at his first tenure in Juventus both second tenure was nothing because no good players at Juventus again so he’s no go area, tuchel is More better than those two I mentioned above while for the Porto ex manager can’t trust him because he hasn’t proved himself apart from Porto and for the ex Dortmund manager 😂😂😂😂 it’s like having another sedorf era God help us oooooo. like I always said americans has no business in European soccer business at all stupid set of individuals. Thinking it’s MLS or NFL teams they are managing
