CorSport: Meeting held with agent as Milan dream of signing 74-goal Man City star

AC Milan are dreaming of signing David Silva to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, a report claims, with a meeting even having been held.

David Silva will leave Manchester City at the end of the season with his contract set to expire June 2020. After 10 seasons with the Premier League side and 424 appearances racked up (including 74 goals and 137 assists, as per transfermarkt), he is ready for a new challenge.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), there are multiple teams in China, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Japan that would welcome him as a real star, but there is no shortage of European options too.

Milan are also on the trail of the 34-year-old, the paper claims, even having held a meeting with his agent to gauge whether there is the possibility of a move to Italy with the Rossoneri in dire need of experience and leadership.

The club has always made it known they intent to focus mainly on young people, but other elements are always needed. The return of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has highlighted how much the inclusion of a mature player and personality can have a very positive impact. A great professional like David Silva, still technically and technically valid, could serve Milan well.
