CorSport: Milan aiming to end a nine-year drought against Dinamo Zagreb

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan host Dinamo Zagreb at San Siro on Wednesday night looking to pick up their first home Champions League win not just of the current season, but in almost a decade.

Today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recalls that a home Champions League win has not been celebrated for nine years by Milan fans, and the game against Dinamo Zagreb could be the right moment to end that hoodoo.

The last time the Rossoneri won three points at San Siro in the Champions League dates back to 13 September 2013, when Milan defeated Celtic 2-0 thanks to an own goal by Emilio Izaguirre and a goal from Sulley Muntari.

Since then, Milan spent a total of seven seasons not being part of the competition and they have collected three draws and three defeats when they did take part. Of these losses, two were last season against Atlético Madrid and Liverpool (both 1-2).

The Rossoneri’s only win in the Champions League in their last 14 games dates back to their victory at Atlético Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano last season.
