CorSport: Milan join Barcelona in race for Man City midfielder Gundogan

AC Milan are on the hunt for potential opportunities to strengthen the squad using free transfers and Ilkay Gundogan’s name has emerged as a target.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) reports this morning, Milan are very attentive to the opportunities to sign players for no transfer fee, with Marco Sportiello set to arrive from Atalanta and Daichi Kamada from Eintracht Frankfurt when their deals run out.

The Rossoneri management have taken a liking to the strategy of taking advantage of free transfers and they have thrown their hats into the ring in the Gundogan sweepstakes.

The paper even claims that English sources are convinced the Rossoneri are already at an advanced stage of negotiations with the 32-year-old midfielder, who has been with Manchester City since 2016.

However, everything would be postponed to the days following the Champions League final in which the Citizens are engaged with Inter.

Milan would overcome competition led by Barcelona and would thus give Pioli a player who possesses class and experience. In the coming days we will understand how much truth there is in these rumours.
