CorSport: Milan aiming to close €20m Chukwueze deal – Kamada remains in the background

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not just focusing on rebuilding the midfield after Sandro Tonali’s exit, with the attacking department needing some attention too.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning writes about two names in particular: Daichi Kamada and Samuel Chukwueze. The former is available on a free after his deal at Eintracht Frankfurt ended, while the latter has a deal at Villarreal expiring next year.

Milan are looking at both players, but will only be able to sign one after the purchase of Ruben Loftus-Cheek because he has occupied one of the non-EU slots meaning that only one remains unless there is an exit.

Milan are serious about Chukwueze, who Stefano Pioli is keen because he wants a fast and strong winger to work on the other flank as a compliment to Rafael Leao.

Contacts between the parties continue to try to lower the economic demands of Villarreal, who want €30m, while the Rossoneri are aiming to close at €20m and have the green light from the player.

Should the Chukwueze attempt fail, then Milan’s plans would turn to Kamada. The Japan international has had a verbal agreement with Milan for over a month with a four-year contract worth €3m net per season ready to be signed.

However, things have slowed down because of the non-EU slot issue so for the time being things have cooled, while waiting for news on Chukwueze.

  1. “plans would turn to Kamada”

If you verbally agreed a deal with him then follow through with it, don’t become untrustworthy snakes whose words have no meaning.

    1. The thing is that Maldini and Massara got an agreement with him. Our new management doesn’t have to go through with the deal if they don’t want to.

      1. The thing is that they should tell him that. I’m sure that is why players that were Milan fans are joining Inter. Nobody wants to work with untrustworthy people.

        1. The extra €1-1.5 million per year that he got had nothing to do with that ex Milan fan choosing inter over Milan. Im sure it was because our new management is constituted of untrustworthy people

          1. @Zoro Maldini Gazzloro, did he or did he not get a 1-1.5 mil more per year from inter?
You are exposing yourself as the guzzler and you don’t even realize it

          2. “@Zoro Maldini Gazzloro, did he or did he not get a 1-1.5 mil more per year from inter?
You are exposing yourself as the guzzler and you don’t even realize it”

It’s far easier to ignore fact when it suits the agenda, right? Anything to bash the new management and owners. 🙂

  2. If we miss out on kamada our rival we get him, we young players like who plays like mordric, 2 footed in the center, he will be able to move the Ball to Leo or chukwu.

  3. If we sell a non EU player surely there’s nothing to stop us getting both? Maybe that’s why we shouldn’t get our crystal balls out and start predicting what’s going to happen over an entire transfer campaign in the beginning of June.

    1. if i understand this right, even if Milan sell all noneu players they can still only register 2 new ones for the upcoming season.
So its either Kamada or Chuky for 2 slot since Ruben is in the first one, thats a fix.
I still think Milan needs Kamada more than Chuky/ a rw

      1. I disagree i think we need chukwueze more because remember we are playing with Messias . If we don’t get kamada then pulisic would be a good alternative at Cam and a back up for both wings

        1. we have been playing salad, messias and castiljeho, also diaz for the last 3+ years.. Sure they arent something to write home to but they do ok.
An upgrade is def needed but why cant they just Orsolini and sign Kamada on free? Why does it need to be this guy on the expense of a good free signing?

          1. No, he won’t be able to play for Japan anymore if he do that as per Japan law, he will lose his Japanese citizenship if he do that.

      2. Problem is I feel like we need both equally. But if Kamada’s free and is turning down oil money and we have an agreement with him I’d probably go with him over Chuk.

      3. Dumbest thing I’ve read. Anyone who knows anything about football knows Chukwueze would be far more useful for Milan than Kamada, especially on the right wing.

        1. seems to me you know nothing of football if you think getting a rw is something Milan really must cash out on at the moment

    1. They dont have money to buy player unless they sell their player. They can only become beast if there is free transfer or loan player available

    2. Sign Kamada and Adama for free(We need to take advantage of free transfers seeing we don’t have a big budget and we can always sell for capital gain anytime) sign Pulisic from Chelsea. Have an agreement with Chukweze and villareal signed so he renews for one year with an agreed price next summer if that’s possible.

  4. Tough choice, sign a player for free on sign a non-name rando who averages (excluding this year) less goal contributions than Messias for €20 million.

    1. ? Excluding this year LOL that’s the most stupid point I’ve ever seen. He’s a young player so what so are you expecting? 7 seasons of 24 goal contributions like his last one? LOL. You should be looking at his last season as the most representative as he made real Madrid’s defense look like child’s play and it’s not as if 24 goal contributions is something you can just ignore.

      1. 24 isn’t really young, he’s been a first-team regular for 5 seasons.
        2022-2023: 6 goals & 5 assists = 11 goal conts
        2021-2022: 3 goals & 3 assists = 6 goal conts
        2020-2021: 4 goals & 2 assists = 6 goal conts
        2019-2020: 3 goals & 2 assists = 5 goal conts
        2018-2019: 5 goals & 2 assists = 7 goal conts

Given a striker is a priority, it would be madness to waste money on him. A striker is far more important than a right winger.

        1. I agree a striker is important but for France Giroud proved that if he has the right players around him feeding him all the time he can bang in a lot of goals. For me someone like Balogun would be nice to have because we’d have the leverage on arsenal with his deal expiring next year so honestly I believe we could get him for around 30M

        2. Also those stats keep in mind are strictly in la Liga so it makes his contributions look worse than they actually are

          1. La Liga is a mediocre league with three good teams. The standard is poor, no one had heard of this guy a month ago. La Liga players rarely light up Serie A. Who’s the last player from outside the La Liga big 3 that did anything?

          2. I mean come on I’ve heard Chukwueze’s name for more than a year he’s not exactly a nobody. Watch some of his highlights and you’ll understand how dangerous he is

  5. This is ridiculous. Kamada is a damn good player plus a Japanese player is good on the commercial side. I like Chukwueze too but come on.

    1. Yes. For example: napoli bring korean player and things run really well. Now they’re trying to sign japanese players

  6. Did my comment get deleted?

“only be able to sign one after the purchase of Ruben Loftus-Cheek because he has occupied one of the non-EU slots meaning that only one remains unless there is an exit.”

The article is incorrect, that’s not how it works, even now Milan need to sell a non-EU to accomodate RLC and need to sell another non-EU to accomodate one of Kamada/Chuk, afterwards, Milan can no longer sign non-EU from abroad this season.

    1. Yes the article is wrong.

You can sign one (in this case RLC) without making a sale, but to sign Chulwueze or Kamara a sale would have to be made.

Each team gets one free slot for a non-EU player from a foreign club per season, and are allowed to have a second if they sell a non-EU player already in their squad. That’s the maximum though.

      1. Actually, even RLC need a sale too as Milan have 5 non-EU in squad. You can only sign one without sale if your non-EU is 2 or less, if there are already 3 or more, even the first signing require sale. RLC had signed the contract but had not been registered in squad, they will need to sell someone first, might be Vasquez.

Nb: doesn’t apply to domestic signing.

  7. I mean.. there is Berardi – an ITALIAN with lots of experience in Serie A and a top RW
Kamada for free and Berardi (maybe Zaniolo) as RW…

Instead of this American no name midfielder there is Frattesi and as CAM there is Baldanzi..

But reality is that are unserious amateur owner with amateur board (Furlani/Moncada) are NOT even using the money from Tonali or the UCL.
Hell they didn’t even sell players like Rebić, Ballo-Touré (non EU) , Adli (non EU now) , Saelemaekers or Messias (non-EU).

Hell instead of selling Tonali this stupid board could sell Bennacer..maybe for lower price but 40 mil could be still a realistic price

    Simply American amateurs

  8. Both are needed,Milan has been lacking in that right wing while kamada is a bonus for us because he is a definition of a true AM and also he is good at set piece, just imagine getting this kind of player for free😃😃😃

It very easy since we have one more slot for a non EU just sign kamada for free before any other club get him then sell Messias and buy chuwueze.but the problem is who will wanna buy Messias 😂

    Suprememilan@❤️🖤

    1. Again, we can’t get both.

To me, we should forget Chukwueze and focus on other wingers. Sign Kamada, a guy who actually really wants to be here and replaces Diaz.

  9. We should’ve signed Kamada and Chukwueze instead of Loftus-Cheek.
Now we need to sign Kamada. He is free and keen to join us; it is a done deal that would save us tons of money and potentially make a profit if we decide to sell him.

  10. Sign kamada , honour your verbal agreement with him , he reject dortmund & saudi club just for AC Milan . We can sign samuel chukwu next year if he go free transfer ( no club buying him this summer or january ) . For now just sign kamada for AMF and sign pulisic or orsolini for RW . Worst case if we lose kamada to Roma while villarreal keep asking 40m euro for samuel chukwu and management do panic buying mediocre player

  11. Please sign two more attacking midfield then sign one right winger and one left then one striker we don’t need any more central or defensive midfielders

  12. What’s this nonsense talk about; AC Milan need to sell a non EU player to get the two aforementioned players then Messias should be sacrificed then.

    1. As I have said over and over, Serie A club CANNOT sign more than 2 non-EU from abroad whatever sales they make.

If the number of non-EU in squad is 2 or less, the club can buy 1 without sale and can buy another but have to sell a non-EU abroad.

If the number of non-EU in squad is 3 or more, the club can buy up to 2 but they have to sell 2 non-EU abroad.

Milan have 5 non-EU at the end of last season (Tomori, Lazetic, Messias, Krunic, and Vasquez), so Milan have to sell 2 of them to accomodate RLC and Kamada/Chuk.

  13. More and more time is wasted which allows more and more other teams to enter the race and snatch up the players we targeted and scouted. Same old same old.

And donkeys on this forum thought it was always Maldini’s fault – the delays. LMAO

NEWS FLASH – we DELAY signings because we have Owners that don’t want to spend $$$$. It’s pretty simple. Yet you Redbird loving donkeys don’t seem to get it.

We CAN sign Chukwueze right now/today (he agreed to personal terms – SAME for Pulsic. IF we pay the 30M requested by Villarreal. BUT we will not do so and instead ask for 20M – the persistent HAGGLE. So hence the delay. Now the Redbird lovers will say: “its not your money, blah blah blah….” Lol.

BUT wasn’t that the point of the Tonali sale?? NOT TO MENTION the 120M from UCL prize $$$$ – where did that go?????

I’m all about getting a great deal and negotiating- BUT given our situation (Wage Cap, Transfer Limits, Youth policy, etc…) we are limited in the players we can go after and sign. SO when one becomes available (Pulsic, Chukwueze, Kamada, Musah etc…) and the player WANTS to come to Milan, has accepted our wage restricted salary cap, and is a dream signing for the coach – there comes a point in time where you just have to stop negotiating and just pull the trigger or RISK losing that player to another team with a better offer. We have seen it play out before – the Thuram debacle is a prime example. There are many more.

NO EXCUSES. Get the deal done if this is the player we want.

    120M + 65M just sitting there.

Don’t let the Redbird PR Spin fool you. WE HAVE THE MONEY. Get the fkn deal done already and move on to other areas of desperate need like a fkn STRIKER.

  14. Ballo toure can be sold and we get both. At least African replaces another African.
Then get a young Italian even from the primeria to replace ballo.

  15. This Kamada story doesn’t make sense. There is something we don’t know. I mean why will a player wait for us, knowing fully well that we have just signed RLC and there is a possibility that we might drop him because of the Non- EU slot. There must be something already in the works or that has been defined yet. That the media have no idea about. Whether he will arrive or he will not must have been already discussed. Even though the Japanese Dual citizenship issue can be a problem if he was trying to get a German passport. May there is a loop hole or chukwueze is on the verge of getting a Spanish passport. Just throwing it out there

    1. Not only Japan do not allow dual citizenship but Kamada also had not been in Germany for 8 years so he is not eligible for German passport.

  16. I can’t believe we used a non-EU spot on RLC when we have a verbal agreement with Kamada.

At least sign Kamada and loan him out until January.
