AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Lazar Samardzic from Udinese and they received word from the player yesterday, a report claims.
While Milan have signed Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic to reinforce the attack and the defence, the feeling is that the midfield is incomplete with a more defensive-minded player needed, and potentially another creative presence who fits Paulo Fonseca’s ideas of build-up play.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) this morning, the contacts over Samardzic are still alive and in the last few hours Milan have received new reassurances from the Udinese man about his desire to move to the Rossoneri.
The Serbian attacking midfielder has already given the ok to the transfer and did so several days ago but wanted to reiterate his choice. Now, however, it is up to Milan to find a meeting point with Udinese who are naturally looking for the best deal.
The directors are reportedly working with their counterparts on the transfer ‘with the lights off’, looking for the best possible offer. The idea of introducing counterparts has been declined by Udinese at the moment, but it could come back into fashion as a solution later in the month.
Why do we need him? We have versatility in Pulisic, Loftus Cheek and Reinjders able to play CAM. We also have Liberali as 4th choice. We need a classy midfield in mould of Rodri to shield the backline + able to dictate play from the back. No Italian players come to mind other than Barela who we cant sign. Kone is not a CDM, Fofana can play there but we may have to wait until next season to sign him for free. I do like Ruben Neves or Kessi but they are not big wages in Saudi. There isn’t any real genuine CDM out there for us to sign. As realistic albeit lesser quality target is Arambat who if he rediscovers his form could be a good signing. He was a beast at Fiorentia and for Morocco during world cup.

Trust the coach. We need him. RLC playing AM last season was Pioli’s doing and wasn’t necessarily the best fit for RLC. Fonseca has already seen he needs a real AM hence why he wants Samardzic so bad. We need good rotation players for the specific positions they play not playing players out of position.
