AC Milan were humiliated by Inter in the Derby della Madonnina last night as they conceded five goals over 93 minutes. For Stefano Pioli, it was yet another derby misstep and he will have a lot to work on.
As highlighted by today’s edition of Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the only way to describe the defeat from Milan’s point of view is that it was humiliating. Not just because they conceded five goals, but also because Ibter were so visibly superior.
The defensive display was a disaster from every point of view, as the Nerazzurri found the back of the net as soon as they got close to Mike Maignan. After the promising first three games of the season, therefore, Milan have been brought down to earth (and into the ground).
They will now need to shift focus to the Champions League as they will take on Newcastle at home on Tuesday evening. Two wins are needed next week, or at the very least two good performances, to ride out the storm caused by yesterday’s defeat.
