AC Milan must put aside the disappointment of defeat against Liverpool and bounce back to keep their hopes of Champions League knockout stage qualification alive.
This morning’s edition of il Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that it was objectively impossible to ask the Rossoneri for more than what they gave that night at Anfield but against Atletico Madrid it will be different.
Points are needed soon if Milan do indeed harbour ambitions of progressing from this group, and the performance offered against Liverpool brought enthusiasm and awareness showing that the team can compete against the very best in the Champions League, but a defeat is still a defeat.
There is a bit more pressure tonight as there is more expectation on the team to perform well at home and turn that into a result. If they were to remain on zero points after tonight, it would in fact make everything much more complicated. Milan would then be forced to rely on the mistakes of others.
