CorSport: Milan open to significant capital gain as Thiaw ponders Germany return

Malick Thiaw has ended up on the radar of Bayer Leverkusen and for AC Milan, a potential sale would result in a significant capital gain, as highlighted by a report.

After what was a 2023-24 season filled with ups and downs for Thiaw, he has certainly recovered this campaign and is currently one of the undisputed starters in the starting eleven. At the age of 23, though, he still has a lot of potential that he hasn’t tapped into yet.

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, Thiaw is one of the most followed Milan players on the mercato. He cost the Rossoneri around €9m in 2022 as he joined from Schalke 04, and now with Bayer Leverkusen knocking on the door, he’s valued at €25-30m.

In other words, there is a significant capital gain to be made and Milan are keeping all options open, especially now with Champions League qualification being uncertain. The contract will expire in 2027 and as things stand, no progress has been made in the renewal talks, which could prompt a move.

Thiaw also wants to feature in the World Cup for Germany next year, so a move back to his home country – and playing for one of the best teams in the league – could help him achieve that.

  1. With this current Milan management was poor and banter era, if he want to cement his Germany position, thiaw should back to Leverkusen for Jonathan tah replacement… Win win solution

    1. Not for 25-30M€ are these guy(management) bunch of idiots. Thiaw shouldn’t go for anything less down 50-55M€

  2. If he is a Leverkusen player and Milan is the buying team, h
The prize will be at least 45 million. These Milan management can’t sell their players for good prize. Okafor will be back, and Deadwoods like whoever the French left back and that Belgium striker is, they still there.

  3. Milan need to be better at overpricing their players instead of taking any offer to then invest in overpriced mediocricy.
