CorSport: Milan rely on Leao, Giroud, Theo and taking advantage of moment in Inter comeback bid

By Oliver Fisher -

The second act of Inter versus AC Milan is upon us, and tonight it will be decided who books a spot in the final in Istanbul next month.

Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) write how the Nerazzurri start with a two-goal advantage but have not yet completely closed the matter which gives some hope to the Rossoneri, ableit slim if they keep playing how they have been.

Inter have the supremacy in the tie but they must avoid the risk of turning it into fear. In the last two matches against Milan (1-0 in the league, 2-0 on Wednesday in the Champions League) they managed the lead well and Stefano Pioli’s men lacked the precision to take advantage of the period in which they exerted pressure.

Three derbies, 31 total shots, and Onana walked off the field having not been beaten each time. Sooner or later a ball will enter the net, and if it were to happen tonight then the moment it does would be crucial.

Inter have never gone behind in the knockout stages of the Champions League this season and if they managed to score immediately tonight, they would nearly be through. They have an excellent physical condition, self-esteem and the luxury of Lukaku on the bench.

Milan are relying on Leao who dominated in the first derby of the season, a 3-2 win for the Diavolo. His return could unlock both Giroud and Theo Hernandez, while Inzaghi hopes that Dumfries will keep playing at a high level and Darmian will contain the Portuguese.
