CorSport: Milan have ‘many’ alternatives as move for Bournemouth defender is unlikely

By Isak Möller -

Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly has ended up at the top of AC Milan’s wish list. However, despite his contract expiring, the English side seem unwilling to release him in the middle of the season.

As a result of Pierre Kalulu and Marco Pellegrino’s injuries, Milan are expected to reinforce the squad with a centre-back this summer. Kelly has ended up on the Rossoneri’s radar and they appear to be very keen, but a move will not be easy.

According to today’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), Milan are indeed keen on signing Kelly in January. However, Bournemouth are unwilling to part ways with the centre-back despite the expiring contract. A summer transfer, therefore, is the most realistic outcome for now.

Milan have ‘many’ alternatives for the position, per the newspaper, such as Jakub Kiwior of Arsenal and Konstantinos Koulierakis of PAOK. Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada will likely assess the situation in the coming weeks, seeing as the window won’t open for a while still.

Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori are the only entre-backs available as things stand, with Davide Bartesaghi and Jan-Carlo Simic as emergency options. Simon Kjaer is recovering from an injury and it remains to be seen when he will be back.
