CorSport: Milan goalkeeper Mirante expected to retire after this season

By Isak Möller -

Antonio Mirante is the third-choice goalkeeper at AC Milan and this will likely be his last season with the Rossoneri. In fact, it should be the last season of the 41-year-old’s career, a report highlights.

Mirante joined the Rossoneri as a result of Mike Maignan’s injury in the fall of 2021, arriving as a free agent after leaving Roma in the summer. In other words, he was an emergency solution.

He has only made one appearance for Milan since, coming off the bench for the final minute plus added time against Hellas Verona last season. According to Corriere dello Sport (see photo below), this should be his last season.

The veteran is expected to retire at the end of the campaign when his contract with the Rossoneri will expire. It remains to be seen if he will get a full official game before then, with Stefano Pioli relying on Mike Maignan and Marco Sportiello.
