CorSport: Milan to make one signing per department – key targets for three roles

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan only made one move in June, redeeming and renewing Alex Jimenez, but the transfer window will open tomorrow and the goal is clear: at least one signing per department. Indeed, the targets are also clear.

The Rossoneri announced the redemption of Jimenez on Friday afternoon and while that was the right move, fans were expecting more from the month of June as a whole. However, as highlighted by Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the window will officially open tomorrow and should result in some movement.

Milan are set to make at least one signing per department and the goals are clear, with above all three positions to reinforce…

Right-back and a No.9

In defence, Milan are expected to add a right-back to the squad and Tottenham’s Emerson Royal is one of the top targets. He has a price tag of €20m and it remains to be seen if the Rossoneri are willing to pay this, but Fonseca has specifically requested a right-back.

The negotiations for Joshua Zirkzee, meanwhile, have hit a standstill due to the high commission request of €15m and Manchester United could also enter the frame. Tomorrow, the release clause of €40m will officially be active and we could thus see some progress very soon.

Of course, Milan are following several strikers and not just the Dutchman, but a lot of work has been put into signing the latter so it would be a shame to miss out in the end

Midfield balance needed

In addition to a right-back and a striker, a defensive midfielder is a must for Milan and Youssouf Fofana is currently in pole position. He’s currently at the Euros with France so nothing will be made official before the adventure ends, but the Rossoneri are pushing.

Monaco value him at €25m but Milan are convinced that they can get a discount of around €7m, taking the price down to €18m. The midfielder’s contract will expire next summer and he has also made it clear to the French side that he wants to leave this summer.

Milan are ahead of the competition and must make the most of this, avoiding a last-minute takeover by PSG or a Premier League team. The alternatives to Fofana are Pierre-Emil Hojbjerg and Mats Wieffer, while Adrien Rabiot is more of an opportunity than anything.

      1. Where there is a will there is a way!

The biggest issue in signing top players is their availability.
This summer there is the most incredible amount of top players on the market.
The management can front load investment in the squad that would see us compete at the top table for years to come with little more investment needed.
Not to mention the income we will recieve from player sales. Chucky could be a useful player to include to bring costs down.

Buy Kvara and Osimehn for 180m, include Chucky = 150m

        Buy a DM = 20m
        = 170m

Dont really need CB or RB

Thats 170m minus player sales CDK, Alexis, Adli, Pobega, Krunic, Maldini, Romero etc etc

Thats about 70m worth of sales

= 100m spend by the club (apparently we have 60 -70m transfer Budget)
So stretch a little (40m) and we have a team capable of competing at the top table for years to come

        1. I don’t why you want Kvaratskhelia when you already have Leao. With Fonseca we will either be playing a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 and both are left wingers in these systems. It will be ridiculous to make one of them a sub. Also Napoli won’t be selling either for less than 100M€ each, so it’s minimum 200M€.
Giving Chukwueze’s performances last season, it is overly optimistic to assume you can sell him for 30M€. Also don’t forget that with Conte’s 3-5-2, he won’t need a right winger.
The 90M€-100M€ budget we have for the summer includes the hypothetical sales of the players and so far we only managed to sell CDK for 22M€ and Krunic for 3,5M€.
We shouldn’t take it for granted that we will manage to sell Alexis or Maldini for a good price nor that we will have good offers for Pobega or Adli. Romero is probably going to be loaned.
So I’d say so far we have around 70-80M€ which can go up to 100M€ at best, but even if we assume we go as much as 140M€ there is no way we’re going to get Osimhen+DM and the deputies we need, let alone Kvara+Osimhen.

          1. Kvara is completely 2 footed, he can play Left, Right or central.

            4231
            Osimehn
            Leao Pulisic Kvara

            or
            433
            Osimehn
            Leao Kvara

Chucky found form eventually and Conte often plays 343 as he did in england

Napoli have struggled to get 120m for Osimehn.
Kvara has refused to extend and has been linked with 80 to 100m transfer.
De Laurentis loves money, so if you are buying both (200m) it is normal to get a discount. He would bight your hand off for 180m

Selling players is up to the management and if they are capable they should get good money.
There is also Terraciano, Pellegrino etc etc. Add up all those 5 or 10m here and there, it becomes a big number.

As I said, where there is a will there is a way

          2. It’s been at least 3 seasons that Kvaratskhelia played as a RW.
Found form or not, no one is paying 30M€ for Chukwueze. You’ll be lucky to get 15-20M€ for a player who essentially was a sub and a flop. The likelyhood of Conte deciding for a 3-4-3 like in Chelsea and telling Laurentis to get him Chukwueze is very slim.
Aside from Tonali who is a good player, we never were good sellers, so getting money from all those players is slim. You’ll be lucky to loan them with obligations to buy.
Also it’s very speculative to assume that we will get a discount from Napoli for their best players while so far, they refused to sell anyone of them.
100M€ is barely there, let alone 200+M€.
Also our priority isn’t a player like Kvara, we mostly need a striker, a defensive midfielder and perhaps a sub for that midfielder. Our wings a pretty secure for now, another star isn’t going to help.

  1. Very true – milan need to fill these positions – BUT THEY ALSO NEED TO DUMP MONCADA AND FURLANI AND IBRA …… THEY ARE JUST CLOWNS AND FOOLS. INCOMPETENT IDIOTS. OTHER TEAMS MOVE ON AND INVEST AND MILAN JUST WATCH.

IT IS ALL VERY CLEAR. CARDINALE JUST WANTS MILAN TO BE AMONG TOP FIVE IN SERIE A TO TAKE PART IN CHAMPS LEAGUE ….
