CorSport: Milan may part ways with Kjaer this summer – the replacement

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan could let Danish defender Simon Kjaer leave the club at the end of the season as they want to replace him with Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Pianeta Milan), the Rossoneri are growing more and more unlikely to offer Kjaer a new contract.

Whilst the focus is on renewal talks with French duo Mike Maignan and Olivier Giroud, Kjaer is also awaiting a conversation given he is out of contract at the end of this season.

Rather than keep an injury-prone defender at the club, Milan may take the opportunity to bring some younger energy into the defensive department, in the shape of Buongiorno from Torino.

He is a 1999-born player so he is certainly not inexperienced, but he could be a part of the defence for many years to come given he is 10 years younger than Kjaer. He has had a superb season with the Granata and was the focus of attention in the January transfer window.

An injury and Torino’s unwillingness to sell in the winter meant that he stayed put, but Milan and other clubs will be trying to reignite their interest before the summer transfer window gets underway.

  1. Bounjourno and Scavlini should be picked up, both can become Milan legends, we dont need to look at premier league or liga 1, we habe what we need under our noses in seria A.
Keep Thaiw , Gabbia and Simic and cash in on Tomori and Kalulu.

    In my humble opinion.

If we could add Zubimendi and Ricci to the defensive midfield we would have close to world class defensive unit.

We would then just need a goal scoring AMC to rotate with RLC and a striker to add to Okafor and Jovic.

Any PIF investment could really elevate Milan, as we have a quality squad but 2-3 new world class starters would propel us in Europe

But the above is the best case scenario and one that i would hope for.

    Forza Milan

    1. i dont agree with you, Thaiw is very slow player and he is not so good as you think. i prefer Gabbia and Tomori simic Kalulu.
wish you a great day Forza Milan per sempre

  2. Now i can see that you’er a racist. why would you want to sell our best defender in TOMORI just because you want 2 italians to take over the CB.

You can see that your thinking is very low and a Milan fan.

    1. This is a terrible comment. Not to mention Thiaw is German, not Italian.

You can disagree with cashing in on Tomori, but to call people names for no reason is not helpful.

  3. I hope we don’t spend what little budget we have on defenders. We have plenty who are both good and young. Our defensive issues stem from midfield, where we need a DM.
Obviously also a striker is a must but that is it.
Kalulu, Tomori, Gabbia, Simic, Thiaw is all we need

      1. I think we need all three. Invest in the entire spine. I’m beginning to have serious doubts about Thiaw and Kalulu. Their injuries might be contributing, but in Thiaw’s case particularly, we’ve seen too many dumb mistakes. He is not progressing. Let Kjaer go, keep Kalulu if you must but assign him to RB permanently, and bring in Buongiorno. CBs: Buongiorno, Tomori, Gabbia, Thiaw, Simic. An then also get a striker and DM. It can be done within our budget.

        1. If we could put together 100m, id spend it all on the best striker and DM we can afford.
Leave tinkering with defence until another year

Thiaw has barely had a year in the team, he’ll keep learning.

    1. Kalulu can’t seem to shake off injuries and given his low transfer cost, would most like be sacrificed for a capital gain.

      1. I hope not.
He is such a quality young player.
Particularly with Theo at LB Kalulu gives us a great option as RB, that way the defense can morph into a back 3, which suits Tomori and Kalulu.
I think once fit and in sync they could lead the defence for years

Kalulu has been unlucky this year, i really hope we don’t give up on him

  4. I agree! No one is racist here however, we barely have any Italians on this team. This IS AC Milan, which is an Italian team. It would be very nice to see some Italians on the field. And besides, the reason on cashing in on guys like Tomori is because he can bring you in the most money from a transfer. With that money you can hopefully buy more than one good player
