For the second consecutive summer, AC Milan are looking to renovate their midfield, and a report has suggested that they are looking to use their current roster to help create a new one.
Last summer, the sale of Sandro Tonali forced Milan’s hand to alter their midfield, and whether it has been a successful renovation remains to be seen after only a season of work. However, more work is planned this summer, and two additions are in the pipeline.
The most notable name in contention is Youssouf Fofana, and the Rossoneri hold a strong position in the negotiations for the French midfielder, even if there are reports that are questioning if a deal will be done due to Monaco’s asking price.
Another option in the running is Lazar Samardzic, who has become a name of interest in recent days. The Udinese would add a different profile to the midfield options at the club, and given there are questions about which midfielders will be at the club at the end of the summer, there could be an opportunity.
With Yacine Adli and Ismael Bennacer potentially on the way out of the club, there could be a gap for another midfielder, and the Diavolo could look to use Tommaso Pobega in the negotiations with Udinese to lower the price of a deal in a ‘quid pro quo’ scenario, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News).
This article makes so much sense: Adli and Bennacer might leave, so there is a need for another midfielder, thus Pobega might be used to buy Samardzic.
So 2 midfielders leave, and to fill that gap Milan use a third midfielder to buy -one- new? 1 minus 3 is still -2….
