CorSport: Milan prioritise sorting renewal of star midfielder and key defender – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking to be proactive and not reactive with their renewal offers and are looking to resolve the future of two players with deals expiring in 2022.

As reported by this morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews), the renewals of Simon Kjaer and Franck Kessie are priorities on the agenda of the management as both are expiring in a year, and the exits of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu have taught a valuable lesson.

For the Danish defender there will soon be a discussion with his agent and a two-year extension is expected to be tabled, while for the Ivorian midfielder there is the danger that the big European clubs might try to snatch him.

Milan have offered a salary of €5.5m net per season and it is expected that Kessie’s return from the Olympics in Tokyo at the beginning of next month is what could be needed for the decisive acceleration.
