AC Milan are still interested in signing Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer this summer but the player is hoping the interest of various clubs will lead to a bigger salary.
According to Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), Milan are one of the teams that are still in the frame to sign Rabiot with Juventus having ended their efforts to secure a contract extension.
The Bianconeri are totally out of the picture as they are watching the developments closely, but they are not actively negotiating with him any more.
The request from Rabiot is a salary of €8m, which has scared many teams away from making a move for him. Milan would have to think long and hard about signing him on that salary given it would make him one of the highest earners in the team.
Rabiot thinks that he could end up with an even greater salary if teams start battling to sign him and he can pit them against one another.
Milan would like to give Paulo Fonseca some more Serie A and Champions League experience in his midfield and Rabiot, without paying a transfer fee, could be the ideal candidate. Signing Youssouf Fofana is thought to be a greater priority though.
I wouldn’t mind us signing him but his willingness to join us should go ahead of any desire to squeeze as much cash out of us otherwise he can just as well join the Saudi league where such aspirations can easily be fulfilled. He could be a valuable asset if joining us though.

CMIIW, that amount will make him earn the highests salary (not one of of the highest) in Milan, right? If so, then hard pass. Maybe he is good, but not that good the earn that status in Milan.
Actually I think he is good enough to be paid 8 million. But you don’t make a new signing you best paid player from a management perspective. That is something you earn the right to.
His salary doesn’t make sense, and he hopes for an auction. It’s probably media-created, but he and his mother are a pain in the Ass. Future problems are incoming.
I Milan were to pay Rabiot 8M€, then MM16 & Theo will want 10M€.
