CorSport: Milan could sell duo for close to €70m – final signing then possible

By Oliver Fisher -

The AC Milan management could give Paulo Fonseca one final new signing before the window closes, but they reportedly need to sell players first.

As Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes this morning, metaphor of the creation of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is stuck at the sixth of seven days which suggests that there is room for further additions.

For something to happen however, there is the need to trim down the current size of the squad, also because of the Champions League and Serie A squad list issue, and that means some sales are necessary.

After Pierre Kalulu and Tommaso Pobega departed, the paper claims that some clues have come directly from the disastrous away match against Parma, where Alexis Saelemaekers and Ismael Bennacer remained on the bench for the entire match.

The duo seem to be the main suspects to leave despite the fact that last week against Torino they started, demonstrating that they would still have a role within the Rossoneri project.

The Algerian has admirers in Saudi Arabia, but at the moment no official offer has arrived with Milan for their part not intending to make too many discounts on the €50m clause.

As for Saelemaekers, on the other hand, with an offer of at least €20m he could leave the club, but Fonseca continues to consider him as being important for his game.

    1. I would retract all my comments toward this management if this were to happen. No way someone will pay those prices. They are good players, i mean Bennie when on form is a beast, Saladman has improved during his loan. But fact is, their stock is at their lowest. Bennie hasnt been good in a while and the saladman had a horrible game last time.

    1. The same saelemaeker that played against Parma and was absolutely awful as a LB?

Are you that desperate? Theo is rusty – so instead of playing him back into shape, let’s put someone in that position who never plays there.

      Great Plan.

  1. Sell everyone. The key players who understood the coach pattern are being sold and the one’s who don’t, you left behind. I pity Milan.
    Columbus
    Maldini
    Kalulu
    Then Ben and salesmarker. Chaii

  2. These two players shouldn’t be touched. Selll Pobega instead..we can’t keep key players away because of one bad moment..I think the management needs to sit Loftus cheek, Tio Henendez and Leoa down and found out what d problem is. If these pple perform well , it will reflect on the entire team. For Calibra, am so disappointed. He is d worst captain we ever had.He should be benched ASAP. There is no point in ensuring that we an Italian in d team and he is a liability.

  3. Our problem is simple: we don’t have defensive midfielders who can really mark/defend, and in the other, our full backs are abysmal in defending position and tactics. You cannot push with both full backs because when that happens, the second Parma’s goal occurs. CBs are just ready to get slaughtered in numbers and positioning. That goal was not the first and it wont be the last to occur if we do not work in those basic aspects of the game

  4. Bennacer for 50 and Saelemaekers for 20?
    Ha ha 😂.
Saelemaekers and Bennacer will both be sold for around the same money less than 20.
Nobody’s silly to pay almost triple more than what Bennacer is worth.

  5. I’d start Saelemaekers over Leao at the weekend. If we are going to persist with this really high line we need players who will run without the ball.

Leao’s two-useful-things-per-game act is getting tiring to be honest.

    1. Leao is what Leao is at this point. He won’t get better or worse. Whatever his shortcomings, he is still the most dangerous player we have. If we wanted amore stellar version of Rafa, he would have been long gone to a better club.

But, I would appreciate the balls on Fonseca if he benched Leao based on merit.

  6. This would complete the madness!!

Our midfield is a calamity and we are considering selling Bennacer? Am I taking crazy pills?

I was mocked here when I suggested top 4 is no guarantee this year, with Juve, Roma, Napoli all looking stronger, added to the always strong Atalanta and Inter.

There is no logic to this current project. Say what you want about Elliot, they were very considered in all that they did and improved the team/club each year.

Gerry and the birds are making a mess

  7. Im not a fan of bennacer (for a 50mio player he is lacking in every aspect of the game, both technical and tacticaly) and im well aware of saelemakers limitations (but i thi k he can be useful to us), but this management clearly has 0 knowledge of football, of italy, of milan… they are all just guessing including ibra… and btw, we should be playing an aggreasive and attacking 4 4 2 with these guys, not the stupid 4 2 3 1 which ials too complicated to play unless you have players like milan had in pirlo, kaka, seedorf, rino and so on….
