CorSport: Milan in talks with Taremi’s entourage over free transfer

By Isak Möller -

Mehdi Taremi was heavily linked with a move to AC Milan in the summer but never ended up joining the club. The Rossoneri are still interested in him, though, and have held talks with his entourage.

Milan tried for several weeks to bring the Iranian international to the club this past summer, but the negotiations broke down at the final stage. The pursuit is not over yet, though, as new contacts have been held.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, as cited by MilanNews, Milan have held talks with Taremi’s entourage recently to probe the ground for a free transfer in the summer. There will likely be a lot more competition this time out, though.

In the meantime, Stefano Pioli will rely on Olivier Giroud, Noah Okafor and Luka Jovic in the No.9 role. It’s clear that an attacking reinforcement is necessary for next season, given the age of the Frenchman.

    1. Clubs can’t talk to players directly but they can talk to the agents.
Clubs usually have personal terms agreed with the players agent before they even approach the players club.
Everything is done through agents and Intermediaries. It’s not like a club director or an owner is calling the player directly

  1. We still have on-perform Charles De Ketelaere at Atalanta. He played behind the striker at Atalanta, and that trait similar to Prime Firminho (Liverpool) & Prime Benzema (Real Madrid), almost like a False Nine.
And with our new 4-3-3 this season, i think it will work to put CDK as the lone striker. He will make good passes at final third for Leao/Pulisic, which are good at scoring goals.

CDK is technically gifted and potentially good at physical duels (1,92cm tall is something to exploit), i hope he will stay at ACM, or we will miss him like we miss Lucas Paqueta.

      1. You are half-right, in the end it is his choice. They can activate the clause but he can stay at Milan if he wants, doesn’t have to sign the new contract. All depends on him.

    1. Your own argument contradicts your assertion that CDK would be useful for us. As you say, he is a second striker, that requires a formation using two strikers. We are set up to play with a lone striker in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. We will not be playing 5-3-2, 4-5-2, 4-3-1-2, etc. Thus he is useless for us. Also, did you not watch last season? He is terrible at winning physical duels. He also gets subbed off in almost every single game he’s played. He also scored a goal today…for Lazio. No thanks, I hope Atalanta takes up it’s option.

  2. Jovic was so bad in Madrid and later Fiorentina leave him for free, there is low possibility for him to become player in Milan.

  3. Yea but if his entourage asked for stupid money/requests, what makes Furlani think this won’t be the case now? Plus, it sounds like other teams are interested too, so his entourage will likely ask for even more.

I say, scrap it and find a younger candidate with less miles on the clock.

  4. What’s the point of this transfer at this point? If we sign Taremi he will be turning 33 during his first season with us. We’ll be looking for his replacement almost immediately. Also, he’s only scored 2 goals this season. Pass.
