CorSport: Milan targeting Italian defender and €50m ‘dream’ striker in the summer

With the January mercato in the dying stages and any avenues for deals in the remaining hours looking slim, AC Milan have already begun thinking ahead to the summer for which deals they want to explore.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport, Milan will look to add at least three reinforcements in the summer, with the main points of interest being a new striker, a new midfielder and another central defender.

This doesn’t come as a shock, given the persistent rumours about signings under these categories, with most linking back to a move in the summer. A lot of the targets that have been linked to signing this month have been loanees – some with options to buy in the summer, others not.

For the central defender, there is Alessandro Buongiorno, the Torino defender, who never turned the Rossoneri down this window. When the club offered him a deal, he only said he would not force a move out of respect for his current club instead of refusing a move.

Whilst a renewal for Olivier Giroud will be considered, the club will still look to add a striker to their ranks in the summer. Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee is a target, as is Jonathan David, but it was revealed the Canadian is not the number one option.

Instead, the Diavolo dreams of Benjamin Sesko. He would cost more than €50million and has been heavily tracked by Geoffrey Moncada, dating back to Paolo Maldini’s time at the club.
