CorSport: Milan’s cruel injury luck highlights – 13 players hit and 47+ games missed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have been battling against the tide for what feels like months when it comes to injuries and they have been thrust into another crisis.

This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) writes that Milan have had a total of 13 players out of 29 (after the arrival of Antonio Mirante) struggle with physical problems during the three months since the start of the season.

The paper even lists the players that have been suffering from the issues plus the amount of games they have missed: Kessie (2), Ibrahimovic (8), Giroud (4), Krunic (7), Bakayoko (6), Plizzari (6), Calabria (2), Kjaer (3), Messias (7), Florenzi (2), Daniel Maldini (1?), Theo Hernandez (3?) and Maignan (16?).

It is worth noting that Ismael Bennacer also had Covid-19 in July but by August 8 he was already healed, though it certainly seemed to take him some time to get back up to full speed.

Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan are the latest two to join the list of players unavailable with the full-back testing positive Covid and the goalkeeper undergoing surgery on his wrist.

    1. There was a time when Milan was known to elongate careers, but now players are getting injured so often. Something needs to change here. Last year it cost us the title.
