CorSport: Moncada the driving force as Milan step up interest in Netherlands international

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are ready to push ahead with the signing of a new right-back this summer, a report claims, with a number one target identified.

According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), there are already those at Milan who are planning the next transfer market despite the uncertainty at the club, and the fact that Andrea Conti nor Davide Calabria have convinced this season means that a new right-back is on the agenda.

The newspaper claims that the name on the top of the pile is PSV Eindhoven’s Denzel Dumfries, a 24-year-old Netherlands international who has eight goals and four assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this season.

Chief scout Geoffrey Moncada has recommended the purchase of Dumfries, who signed for PSV from Heerenveen in 2018 for about €5.5million.

His current valuation is higher than this figure, but Milan have an important card to be able to play to reduce the costs: they will propose Ricardo Rodriguez – currently on loan at the Eredivisie club – as part of an exchange deal.

The relations between the parties are good and the negotiation can take off, the report concludes.
