CorSport: Origi the symbol of Milan’s struggles in goalless draw vs. Empoli

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to add another three points to their tally last night as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Empoli. Divock Origi was the big flop as he failed to have an impact on the game, always at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Stefano Pioli took a chance as he made a total of five changes to the XI compared to the Napoli clash. As highlighted by Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), the rotation is understandable but making so many chances was always going to be bold.

Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz, the protagonists against Napoli, had both just recovered from knocks and that could explain them both being benched. On the other hand, as the newspaper continues, the subs perhaps came a bit too late.

Regardless of that, though, the real flop and an appropriate symbol of Milan’s struggles was Divock Origi. He didn’t look synced at all and struggled to be where the Rossoneri needed him to be. Rebic was slightly better, as the newspaper concludes, at least finding some combinations with his teammates.

  1. He could play anyone in st (even the backup gk) and they would do better.. Origi is a waste of cash and any minute he is on the pitch hurts the team and himself

  2. Origi would have scored an easy tap in goal had Theo opted to cross the ball to him instead of smashing his shot right at the Empoli keeper

  3. He will improve, and score a lot of goals………..

    (Late April’s fools)

If we can’t sell him, loan him to seria d if we have to. Primavera forwads would do a lot better than this guy.
