CorSport: Piatek could return to Milan – possibility of loan or mystery clause

By Oliver Fisher -

A return to AC Milan for striker Krzysztof Piatek cannot be excluded, at least according to a sensational report from il Corriere dello Sport.

The paper claims (via MilanLive) that with the almost certain farewell of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and with only two goals in six games for Hertha Berlin, it is not impossible that Piatek returns for another spell at Milan.

Considering that the deal which took him to the Bundesliga in January was widely regarded to be an outright transfer, some questions arise. The paper does not specify, but a possible loan or activation of a secret clause in the contract may be the answer.

The Poland international has all the requirements that satisfy Elliott Management Corporation: he is young at just 24 years old and has a salary of €2million-a-year.

Il Pistolero could be very useful in the 4-2-3-1 that Luciano Spalletti – the only valid alternative to Ralf Rangnick – tends to deploy, and at the same time he could have another chance with Stefano Pioli if confirmed.

There could be an opportunity for redemption for a striker who had reached a peak which seemed only the start of a glorious career, but how this scenario could take place remains a mystery at the moment.
