CorSport: Premier League and Ligue 1 interest exists for Milan duo – the details

By Ben Dixon -

This summer, the outgoings are just as important as the incoming players, and some information has come to light about some interest in two AC Milan defenders.

Last season, Milan struggled heavily in defence, but there is still a large amount of interest in a few players. So far, there have been at least two efforts made to the Rossoneri for Fikayo Tomori, but both attempts have been refused with Paulo Fonseca wanting to build around the English defender.

Newcastle United, who were one of the clubs interested in Tomori, have made contact with the Diavolo about Malick Thiaw, and a deal could be done for around €40 million, with a report suggesting that it seems likely.

This morning, Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) have strengthened this, stating that the Magpies are interested in the German defender, and negotiations could advance quickly in the days to come with a price already set.

Additionally, they have suggested that there is some interest in the captain, Davide Calabria, from France. They state that Ligue 1 club Strasbourg have the Italian right-back in their sights, and whilst he is not their primary target, he is a name that has been mentioned.

Given the Emerson Royal links are heating up once again, maybe there could be something in the pipeline this summer for the captain.

  1. Too many changes to the team are not good. Especially with a new coach.
I think the focus should be on bringing in a solid defensive midfielder. Only then would a proper assessment of our defenders be possible.

    1. I feel you on that. New coach and new implement, where it is also talk about switching out the starting CB pairs and the midfield.
I’ll say, keep the CB’s and just get a god damn DM. That’s all

    2. We’re selling the club captain the same summer we lost Kjaer and Giroud.

The summer after we lost Maldini, Ibra and Tonali.

Our club captain is going to be Theo, who is great and all, but he’s no leader.

      It’s utter madness.

      1. Yeah the wonderful job Tonali did in midfield led us to a 5th place finish along with his buddy Bennacer, the only quality in that midfield was Kessie and Calhanoglu. Now the gambling addict has let the entire country down and Mr.Brittle Bones might be heading for Saudi.

        1. Slags off players who are loyal to the club until to the end.

          Tick.

Downplays club’s achievements including making the historically inaccurate claim that we finished 5th when we finished 4th.

          Tick.

          Praises the two mercenary scum.

          Tick.

Yes I can see you’re not a fan. Maybe following the Turk to Inter.

    3. 100% DM should be a priority ” Fofana” and then CB and striker instead of selling captain and the sole of Milan.

The new coach and new system and all the changes so quick maybe disaster to Milan. Fonseca failed at Roma and previous Italian teams without a big squad.

Capello and Sacchi have reservation on the plan at hand and both believe we are way behind Inter and will be behind Juve after this transfer market!

      Someone at Milan please HELP!

    1. Why as a bench player when he’s been one of our best players for the past 5 seasons?

Did the imaginary player in your head do a better job marking some of the best wingers out of games?

      Do they have a Scudetto?
