AC Milan ended up signing Junior Messias from Crotone for the attacking midfielder role on deadline day, but there were three other profiles who were also linked.
This morning’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) writes that in the months of July and August the hunt for Hakan Calhanoglu’s replacement continued and during that period Maldini and Massara received several phone calls from agents to offer their clients.
Isco Alarcón of Real Madrid was actually offered to the Rossoneri several times and the same can be said for James Rodríguez of Everton, plus other international profiles. Milan rejected the proposals that came forward, in some cases because they were convinced by the physical condition of the players in question, and in other cases due to salary.
The paper adds how Nikola Vlasic’s agent repeatedly offered Nikole Vlasic to Milan but CSKA Moscow’s demands were always too high as he ended up joining West Ham for €28m.
