CorSport: Six key players at risk as Giampaolo tells Maldini to raise funds

Marco Giampaolo has told Paolo Maldini to sell as many as six players to raise funds for more additions, a report claims.

The Rossoneri’s mercato revolution is in full swing as the leadership look to give Giampaolo the best squad possible for his disposal in the new season.

Rafael Leao became Milan’s third official summer signing earlier on Thursday, with Ismael Bennacer and Leo Duarte set to follow soon.

However, it is not just the incoming market in which Milan are working, but also in sales.

Il Corriere dello Sport are reporting that Giampaolo has asked Maldini to sell as many as six players in order to increase the transfer budget and help him bring in more players suited to his style.

Those named in the report include André Silva – seemingly bound for Monaco – Suso, Hakan Calhanoglu, Franck Kessie and Lucas Biglia, plus one of Diego Laxalt and Ivan Strinic.

Suso is rumoured to be on the market amid interest from Roma, while it was also recently claimed that Giampaolo will decide the future of Kessie.

Biglia is wanted by Genoa, Calhanoglu has been persistently linked with a return to Germany and Laxalt is also apparently in demand.

Sales of any of the aforementioned could help fund a move for Angel Correa, as talks with Atletico Madrid continue over a €45m deal.
