CorSport: Thiago Silva desperate to secure Milan return and will take pay cut – the details

By Oliver Fisher -

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva wants a return to AC Milan this summer and will take a pay cut to make it happen, a report claims.

Friday’s edition of il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive) notes how the Brazilian centre-back is ‘desperate’ to end his career with the Rossoneri. The 35-year-old has a crossroads in front of him as his contract expires in June with no sign of a renewal: either retire at Milan or in his home country.

In either case,it would be a return home, but being able to choose, he would gladly return to Serie A and to Milan before saying goodbye to football.

Milan will consider it as he is still a defender who is playing at a very high level, but also to deliver a leader to a young and still lost team – especially if Zlatan Ibrahimovic should leave.

The paper claims that for Thiago Silva it wouldn’t be a question of money. After earning a huge wage in the French capital for eight years, he would be ready to significantly reduce his wages. Indeed, his return would also be ‘sponsored’ by his family who have an excellent memory of their time in Milan.

To give an idea of the link he still has to Milan, Thiago Silva even went to Milanello during his time at PSG period to be treated by Milan’s medical and physiatric staff. All with due indiscretion of course, but it is a demonstration of how his umbilical cord to Milan never really broke.
