CorSport: Thiaw and Tomori to be reunited against Udinese with added pressure

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will go into tomorrow night’s game against Udinese with Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori as the only fully fit options at centre-back, meaning there is a bit of added pressure on the duo.

As Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) writes this morning, it will be Thiaw and Tomori again at the centre of Milan’s defence tomorrow at San Siro, a duo who have given excellent results thus far.

Since Thiaw has been at Milan, playing alongside Tomori has equated to an average of 2.3 points per game in the league, while the average number of goals conceded per game stands at a healthy 0.7.

Against Udinese, Milan have the opportunity to put a bit of pressure on Juventus and Inter above them, and the data shows that slip-ups are less likely with the Englishman and the German are at the back.

When one of Thiaw and Tomori was missing, all the difference was felt: a drastic drop in results – to an average of 1.3 points per game – and in defensive numbers too, with the average rising to 1.8 goals conceded per game.

The former Schalke man returns from serving a suspension against Napoli and will hope to build on Milan’s impressive San Siro defensive record, which sees them have the second-least goals let in at home in Serie A.
