When Paulo Fonseca joined AC Milan in the summer, he promised a more dominant team. This has involved his side pressing harder, and working generally harder with the ball too, but a report has suggested that this may not be a good thing.
It took Milan a little too long to get started this season, but with a win against Inter, it is fair to suggest that their season has begun. A different result against the Nerazzurri would have, perhaps, taken the squad down a different route, but let’s not think about that.
Instead, we can look at Fonseca’s Rossoneri begin to take shape, and his ideas are being imposed by the squad, but there have been suggestions that with the squad available to him, he should perhaps make some changes.
As Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) write, the idea to have Alvaro Morata and Tammy Abraham on the pitch together has been a masterstroke. Whilst more balance has been shown at present, it could have negative effects in the long run.
The Diavolo are reliant on the same 14 players and have used the least amount of starters in Europe, and any changes to the mainstays have proven problematic so far. Having said that, any changes to the squad that were to be forced due to injury could harm the Rossoneri significantly, and this is where the drawbacks of a ‘more aggressive’ Milan come into play.
Point taken. Our lack of depth is a concern…so the threat exist that we might be derailed with injuries. All the more reason to go back into the market for solutions.
I disagree about depth. We have depth in attack, we have depth in the midfield. The only place we don’t have depth is with our fullbacks. Okafor, Jovic, RLC, Musah, these guys can and should be used. Jovic while not great as a lone striker, now that we are playing with 2 up top he is much better suited for that.
So Fofana gets injured and Yulya cover him with what player? Took us whole summer just to bring in one DM.
I would like to see a lot more Okafor and Musah and hope Fonseca thinks the same
This happens during Pioli era. He was not to be blame for the not rotating. The management should be blame for not providing dept.
Pioli rotate and it affect him losing to mid and bottom table teams
Pioli didn’t lose because he rotates, he lost because he didn’t know how to rotate.
He never gives minutes to players like Chukwueze, Okafor and Jovic and then all of a sudden fields them together while they’ve never played together before (no chemistry) and none of them ever started.
With Pioli it was either too much or too little.
Exactly. Also pioli just doesn’t know how to ply quick passing ticki tacka, every pass is overthought which leads to slow gameplay that the defense can read from miles away. U can still se it this season it’s deep in our dna rn we need to get it out. If we have proper ticki tacka we can play with every player we have
