CorSport: Why Zirkzee’s agent wants him to join Arsenal over Milan

The agent of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee is pushing for a move to Arsenal over AC Milan for his client because of the financial package on offer, a report claims.

It was claimed by La Gazzetta dello Sport this morning that Zirkzee is the centre-forward that the Milan management want to present as a ‘gift’ to the incoming head coach Paulo Fonseca, and they believe they can win the race.

However, there are a couple of issues. Firstly, his agents are likely to command a big commission given that Zirkzee will move for his €40m clause, while there is competition from Juventus, Manchester United and Arsenal to deal with.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Daily Cannon), Zirkzee’s agent Joorabchian is pushing for him to join the Gunners because he has a close relationship with their sporting director Edu and believes he can use that to get a good deal.

A four-year contract worth €5m per year is apparently on the table for the player, with the London club believing that a lucrative contract and the chance to play in the Premier League could land them their man.

Because of Joorabchian’s links, it is very much possible that he would net a nice commission too for brokering the deal, one that Milan – based on their previous stance – would be a lot less likely to pay.
