Today, Billy Costacurta explained how AC Milan defender Strahinja Pavlovic doesn’t share any characteristics with him, but shares some with Franco Baresi.
Pavlovic’s journey at Milan has been a strange one. In his first season, there were regular questions about him and whether he was up to the standard required. It got to the point where a sale was being considered.

However, he was never granted a chance to depart, with the Rossoneri not giving up on the player they had on their hands.
Now, that feels like the right decision, with Pavlovic being one of the first names on the teamsheet. He was central to Massimiliano Allegri’s plans and Ruben Amorim is now following suit, building his defence with the Serbian being a regular.
Pavlovic like Baresi?
Speaking at the Boggi presentation event in Milano, MilanNews asked Costacurta about Pavlovic, and his reply was certainly an interesting one.
“He’s got great aggression. We have little in common, I didn’t have anything that stood out: Pavlovic has strength and aggression, which are surprising. Every now and then you need this type of player, because he wakes you up. Baresi was extraordinary in this, he brings so much energy to the team when he gets going with the ball at his feet.”
Baresi’s legacy…
“I promised I’ll carry on Baresi’s legacy. I’d like these guys to follow Franco’s path. In my opinion, that’s being elegant [hence the Boggi collection] and being a great team, because great players don’t waste their energy on other things.”
Most probably wouldn’t compare Pavlovic to Baresi, so it’s certainly an intriguing choice.

well that’s high praise.
I didn’t even read the article…I’m still laughing about the headline. I like Pav….but seriously?
You know who Saelemaekers reminds me of? Messi.
