Costacurta labels Kalulu as ‘the symbol’ of Milan’s growth over the last two years

Pierre Kalulu has received a lot of praise over the last 24 hours as he scored the winner against Empoli last night. It’s not his first positive performance of the season, though, and his growth has been evident lately.

The youngster arrived on a free transfer from Lyon back in 2020 (€450k compensation fee) and it’s safe to say that it was a great deal by Milan. Getting playing time quite consistently, the defender has been able to grow a lot.

Last night’s success was just another example of just how good Kalulu has become during his time at Milan. Speaking to Sky Italia after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Rossoneri legend Billy Costacurta stated that the Frenchman is a symbol of the project.

“Kalulu is one of AC Milan’s players who have grown the most. He’s the symbol of an AC Milan that has grown so much in these two years. In the second half, Milan was too disjointed, there was too much space between defence and midfield. That’s why they had to fight more,” he stated.

Milan have focused a lot on young players in the last few years and it has paid off on the pitch as well. Hopefully, they can continue like this and aim for the Scudetto.
