Alessandro Costacurta offered Team Manager role

By Madison Derian-Toth -

According to Sport Mediaset, AC Milan have approached former defender Alessandro Costacurta to take the role as team manager. The 53-year old spent 21 years playing for the club before retiring.

This is not to be confused with the role of Club Manager, previously filled by Gattuso. This would be a role similar to what Abbiati had in the past.

The former defender has spent a year in the technical area under Carlos Ancelotti. He then took over as manager of then Serie B team Mantova. Following his two stints as manager, Costacurta has been a pundit on Sky Sport Italia since 2010 and worked alongside Commissioner of the FIGC Roberto Fabbricini last season.

With the big shakeup in management this week, Paolo Maldini is rumored to be taking the role as Technical Director. Leonardo previously held that role.

With the true management role still vacant, a number of names of been mentioned this week, however, regardless of who is the new manager, having more icons of the club back in management is a good thing.
