Costacurta pleads for patience with Camarda: “An evolution that will last years”

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has once again expressed his belief that Francesco Camarda should be awarded patience as his development continues.

Fonseca has chosen to bring Camarda to Chicago, despite the fact he arrived in the United States after having taken part in the U19 European Championship, and that alone shows how highly rated the teenager is.

The sheer amount of goals that he has scored in the various levels of the youth sector combined with the fact that he has often played against opponents above his years mean that Camarda is one of the brightest prospects in Italian football, and the Rossoneri must manage him well.

Costacurta was interviewed in the columns of SportWeek over the past weekend and spoke about Camarda, who played a few minutes during the 1-0 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

“Francesco Camarda is so young that he has an evolution ahead of him that will last years. And an evolution, by its nature, is unpredictable: it can lead to an improvement, but it can also, when completed, not show any progress, leaving you as you were, or, even, lead to a worsening,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Seeing Camarda now, how he plays against opponents two or three years older than him, the thought is that he really could have a bright future.”

The hype train for Camarda keeps growing, and following his goals at the Under 19 European Championship, it will not slow down anytime soon. There have even been suggestions he could be the third striker next season, though an immediate future with Milan Futuro seems more likely.

  1. I’m saying it first, for the next Euros Camarda, Zeroli, Liberalli, Torriani, Jimenez will all be playing for Italy and Spain.
