Costacurta suggests that Tomori could have a different long-term partner to Kjaer at Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan icon Alessandro Costacurta believes that Fikayo Tomori could partner Alessio Romagnoli and not Simon Kjaer in the future.

Tomori hasn’t missed a match since he arrived on loan from Chelsea with a €28m option to buy. He was thrown into the fray since the Coppa Italia derby against Inter and gave both Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez a tough time. Since then, he took his place as a starter alongside the untouchable Kjaer.

Calciomercato.com even reported earlier today that Tomori has convinced everyone at Milan that he is worth the investment, and his numbers certainly show how impressive he has been.

Costacurta spent over twenty years with Milan between 1986 and 2007 and knows all about what it takes to form an effective centre-back partnership. He spoke to Sky Italia about the potential centre-back pairing that Milan could have moving forward, and offered a different solution to the one most fans are calling for.

“Tomori has characteristics that the other centre-backs do not have. He is not afraid to face the opponent, he always attacks the player. He is not afraid also because he has physicality and speed,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

“He also has the ability to long pass and recover the ball and also creates attacking situations for Milan. In the future I see him well with Romagnoli.”

  1. Everything said about TOMORI Is what romagnoli is lacking,no speed,no blocks, does not close down attacker, lukaku’s goal an example,so he is average at best..
