Councillor berates Milan and Inter for San Siro discount request: “Truly disconcerting”

AC Milan and Inter have requested a discount for their deal to buy San Siro, and it has not gone down well at a higher level.

It seems it is just a case of ironing out the final stages for Milan and Inter with regard to purchasing their home. In the last decade, there have been several bumps in the road when both clubs have looked at moving away.

Now, though, it seems they will stay together, at their current home and work on a new stadium, with help from some developers. Until the stadium is bought, though, there will remain a feeling of doubt and worry.

‘Lack of public interest’

Yesterday, it was reported that the clubs have attempted to amend the agreement, seeking a €30 million discount due to costs incurred. Whilst a decision is not expected for another month, it has left some unhappy, as MilanNews relays comments from Democratic Party councillor Alessandro Giungi.

“The news that the Municipality intends to deduct €30 million from the €197 million that the real estate funds that control AC Milan and Inter Milan will pay for the ownership of San Siro and the surrounding areas is truly disconcerting.

“And that these €30 million, according to a short-sighted interpretation, are ‘due’ because the stadium law requires the Municipality to cover the remediation costs for the construction of a new stadium.

“No one is forcing the use of this law; if the funds are requesting its application, the lack of any public interest in the entire operation should be even clearer.”

  1. Who else wants to buy San Siro? Isn’t that even more disconcerting? You’re just going to have a relic in the middle of the city. I don’t understand their logic

    1. Prime real estate in Milan?

I think they could do ok.

Perhaps Milan and Inter should show more respect for the city that they are passing off a connection with.

And perhaps if Milan could stop signing strikers every 5 mins they might have some money for a stadium.

      1. Speaking of which, I think you should show more respect to Como instead of “passing off a connection with” Milan

        1. I have got a very personal connection to both places.

I’m a bit lost as to why there are so many random Brits or Americans (I assume you’re one of the two) who seem to hate Italians supporting an Italian team (that finished 8th last season).

          1. Now you’re reaching, trying to find out where ppl from when you yourself don’t know where you are. You magically discovered you had a personal connection to Como last year because your ret.arded a$$ didn’t realize in the 40 years of living near there that you lived near there. And lo and behold you became a fan.
Again, the beautiful words STFU and go support Como are appropriate for you

    2. There were reports of private companies wanting to use San Siro for entertainment purpose. Or they can get rid of it and the real estate value of the area is huge. Anyway that’s just classic capitalism. Billionaires enjoying socialism and public funds so they can get richer.

      1. Isn’t it going to be classified as a heritage site??
I think you guys on the ground there have better knowledge than I so will lean on your knowledge

  2. The same respect that they have shown the club? Stadium should have been half completed by now if not for the bureaucracy that the club has faced. Lets be clear here, the stadium is the only way we get rid of this current ownership, they wont sell until its built or at least near completion for maximum profits and Sala and his cronies have wasted the clubs time and money for way too long, I say squeeze them for every last euro they can get, because we are stuck with Redbird until 2030 as it stands because of them.

    1. Fair enough.

But we are dealing with Italian bureaucracy so is anyone really surprised.

I don’t know how we end this disaster but if Redbird are banking on a stadium the club could be stuck with them for a long time.
